Space Powered Internet…
Anytime, Anywhere
To demonstrate the lack of internet connectivity in the most remote locations takes bravery. So, when 361 faced climbing a Welsh mountain in freezing -10 conditions – all in the name of PR – our reply was simply… ‘hand us the crampons’.
Staying connected in desolate and dangerous locations globally – from war zones to natural disasters – can mean the difference between life and death. And staying connected in the UK’s most remote locations can be game-changing for those running a business, keeping communities in touch, or calling emergency first responders.
The
CHALLENGE
361 was challenged to prove OneWeb’s new portable internet receiver – Kymeta Hawk U8 – was critical for staying connected where cellular/broadband signals never reach.
The game-changing technology links to the company’s low-orbit satellites, offering 100% UK coverage.
The 30kg flat panel would work in both fixed locations and on the move, with connectivity available in a 1km radius to everyday Wi-Fi-enabled devices. It only needed a car cigarette lighter port for power.

What
we did
To prove the worth of OneWeb’s new portable internet receiver, we embarked on an all-or-nothing mission… heading to Yr Wyddfa (Mount Snowdon) in Wales to use the tech for media interviews and a risky Insta Live direct from the mountain – renowned for its connectivity dead zones.
The team embarked on a 12-mile climb to 3,560-ft above sea level, with adventurer Aldo Kane, disaster-relief heroes Serve On, a PA photographer, a full film crew and our OneWeb clients. We battled horizontal rain, snow, ice, and -10 chills, to chat to journalists live from a notorious deadzone on the mountain and hosted the Insta Live to Aldo’s 150k followers to prove the robust connectivity of the terminal.
The
Results
361 was at the peak of its game. This award winning, creative campaign scaled new heights (literally) for client OneWeb, launching its new flat panel receiver with proof of how signals from space solve impossible internet connections.
105 pieces of international coverage, 75 radio snippets, and a Sky News TV interview led to demo requests plus new business leads including F1, Airbus, and HBO Productions.
